The fifth session was by Mr.Vinod Geo Thomas. He spoke on Digital Signal Processors in Video Applications. Mr.Vinod Geo Thomas is a Senior Software Engineer at the Cranes Software International Ltd. His session focused on the roadmap of TI DaVinci, their latest versions and the various hardware and software tools available for them.
The sixth session was by Mr. Sreeram Mohan, technical support engineer, Cranes Software India (Bangalore). He provided an overview on FPGAs in DSP and Embedded Systems Design. The talk focused on using a SW/HW co-design approach to design promising embedded systems.
The seventh session was a seminar on the topic Codecs and Processors. It was conducted by Mr. Vatsalya Prasad, Senior Design Engineer at ARM India. Division. This session illustrated how CODECs are complimentary to the processor and that you cannot choose one without seriously thinking about the other.

The eighth session was a tutorial on Real-time Operating Systems for Embedded Systems carried out by Mr. Mahesh U. Patil, a Project Leader for the National Ubiquitous Computing Research Centre, at C-DAC, Hyderabad. His talk put forth the differences in features of RTOSs, as contrasted with the General Purpose Operating Systems and also presented various scheduling schemes for real time tasks and discussed schedulability analysis on a given set of specifications for real time tasks.
The ninth session was a lecture by Mr. Gurjit Singh Gill on Embedded Systems for Low Power Wireless Applications. Mr. Gurjit Singh Gill is the Director Design Head, at Gill Instruments Bangalore, a third-party company of Texas Instruments and his lecture was on MSP_430 microcontroller.

The workshop concluded with the Valedictory ceremony, presided over by the chief guest, Dr. S. Rajarathnam, HOD, Dept of EIE, VNRVJIET, and Dr. C.D.Naidu, HOD ECE Dept and Vice Principal, VNRVJIET, who gave away certificates to the participants and the student volunteers. |
