Even in the 24th Century, there are many diseases and aliments that affect the population of the Federation and it's neighbours. Following is a description of the many of the conditions a well trained Chief Medical Officer will be required to diagnose.
After centuries of research into Medicine, the following data base is an indication of high level of technology available to the Chief Medical Officer and their staff in the 24th Century.
The sickbay is extremely compact and stands ready to handle all kinds of medical problems among the ship's multi - species crew. It is also equipped to detect, contain and aid, forms of life and bio hazards not yet imagined. The small medical lab attached to sickbay contains advanced bio-assay and lifeform analysis hardware, as well as genetic sequence, nanotherapy and virotherapeutic equipment
The variety of medicines available in the Trek universe is staggering. The following is a small sampling of the kinds of medications that are available to the Chief Medical Officer. Unless otherwise noted, medicines are generally effective for about 24 hours per dose.
