In cooperation with Texas Instruments, India, the VLSI Society of India hosted a seminar on May 7, 2010 at TI India Bangalore campus. The speakers, Mr. Nigel Fine, and Mr. Tushar Chaudhary of IET, spoke about the goals of the IET and the professional programs offered by the IET. Mr. Shekhar Sanyal, country head of IET (India), was also present. Mr. Nigel Fine explained that the Institute of Engineering and Technology (www.theiet.org ) has 150,000 members world-wide and is headquartered at London. The IET also has branches in many countries, including India. There are also local networks in different cities; for example, IET has local networks in Bangalore, Mumbai, and New Delhi. |

Mr. Tushar Chaudhary explained about the IET membership options available. He also went into the professional qualifications such as CEng (Chartered Engineer) that IET awards on behalf of Engineering Council (UK). There were many questions from the audience about the professional qualifications offered by the IET and their importance to the Indian Engineering/Technology professionals.
